AHMEDABAD — Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in dire straits at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, struggling to muster up a mere 137 for 8 after 17.1 overs against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2026 match, with the innings on collapse
Gujarat Titans captain won the toss and opted to bowl first under clear skies which has been a decision that has paid huge dividends. The batting order, which is intended to be the highlight of RCB on this occasion, was no match for the discipline and professionalism within the GT bowling ranks spearheaded by wizard adroit Rashid Khan (4 ov, 2 Wkts, 19 runs) in a strike rate where he has just become unplayable as one end looks like an avalanche of run scoring while at his other end that contains undeniable professional strength.
Virat Kohli, who clobbered 28 off just 13 balls including five boundaries and a maximum to give RCB’s innings an early spark but soon fell at mid-on. Devdutt Padikkal fought valiantly, scoring 40 off 24 balls to ensure some respectability to the total with little support from the middle order. RCB found themselves at a knife’s edge at 137/8 with Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd pushing out without much of a contest actually.
Jason Holder (2/29) and Mohd Arshad Khan (2/17) were as lethal, while Kagiso Rabada was expensive with 44 runs in 4 overs but bagged a wicket too.
RCB tail-enders Venkatesh Iyer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have just two wickets left, and approximately 3 overs to try and scrape a few more precious runs. It now looks as though 145–150 will be the ceiling, a target GT should find fairly easy to chase down.
