Ahead of their crucial clash against Rajasthan Royals, the Delhi Capitals camp has received massive boost with star pacer Mitchell Starc available as confirmed by bowling coach Munaf Patel.
Starc has been since early/mid January but is now back in the frame after managing his workload following a massive Ashes series. During the Ashes, Peever was Player of the Series for taking 31 wickets at an average of just 19.93 he excelled as an experienced left-arm quick.
“Bowlers Win Tournaments” – Munaf’s Clear Message
Ahead of the IPL clash in Jaipur, Munaf Patel said that not withstanding the current rash of high-scoring matches in Indian Premier League, bowlers are still set to play crucial roles as usual.
But over the course of a tournament, it is all about the bowling unit [whether or not] a team can have consistent success: he acknowledged batters win you games on their day as well as they are wonderfully capable of being one match winners. Disciplined execution with the ball, to him, is what separates contenders from champions.
Starc’s Return Could Shift Momentum
It was the ideal time for Delhi with Starc coming back. The Australian quick is known for his pace, swing and ability to bowl in tense climaxes, he will add great value to DC’s bowling department.
As a series of 200s (and more) have been scored across the tournament, having someone like Starc could well help bring a bit of balance back. He is anticipated to not just enhance the strike yet also benefit the morale of the side as a whole.
High-Scoring Era, But Bowling Still Matters
IPL 2026 has been dominated by gaudy batting and the kind of record chases that leave you wondering if bowling went out with the horse-drawn cart, brazenly parading its wares; but Munaf feels there still is room for smart moves in bowling. He spoke of making adjustments to circumstances, staying disciplined, and executing in a high-pressure situation.
In an age where batsmen have overshadowed bowlers, Patel’s comments are a reminder that every successful T20 side relies heavily on its bowling.
All Eyes on Jaipur Showdown
The improved bowling unit of Delhi Capitals would be in focus when they meet Rajasthan Royals. DC’s campaign needs a positive output, and with Starc expected to be back and Munaf Patel adamant that his bowlers would recover strongly, the stage is set for one big statement.
This contest not only promises to be a bruising clash, but it will also answer another interesting question: does quality bowling still dictate terms in T20 cricket?
